All because of a naughty dog named Ellie…

i’ve been where you are

Once upon a time I rescued a feisty 3 year Lab Mix named Ellie that made my life way harder than it had to be. If it wasn’t for that cute face and my stubbornness to figure her out, I might have given up on her. But I was committed to seeing it through, so to Google I went to find some dog training help. What I found instead was information overload. It seemed like every other article I read or video I watched was telling me to do the opposite of the last one. I had almost given up hope when I discovered the e-collar. Even then, I was so intimidated to use it, I returned it and bought it again three separate times before enrolling in a dog training seminar to learn how to do it the right way. The e-collar was the only way I was able to get Ellie to listen to me, to choose me over the squirrels and actually want to walk next to me. It was a game changer in our relationship and I wanted to shout from the rooftops about this magical tool that saved my relationship with my dog. So, that is the short version of how The Wise Dog ( formerly Finn Family Dog Training) came to be.

where we are now

Since training Ellie on E-Collar in 2016, we have helped hundreds of dogs be trusted on the leash and off and go on more adventures with their families. For the first five years, we were in the Denver-area and relocated to beautiful Colorado Springs in 2020. While we loved living in COS for four years and met some of the best people there, we were ready for a new adventure. Our family, now consisting of my husband Carter, our two little ones, Luca and Esmé and our two dogs, Finn, and Getty (Rest in Power Ellie) recently moved to Castle Rock, Colorado.

So why did me move here?

1. It was the best move for our family to create the community we wanted

2. You! And the dogs you love that were underserved by other trainers. While some dogs do just fine with only reward-based/positive reinforcement training, we aren’t here for them. We are here for the tough dogs. The anxious dogs. The dogs that make you want to pull out your hair and have honestly thought of giving up on because of the grief they have caused. Those are the dogs we are here for. We are here for their humans who have tried other trainers without success, who have done the same Google searches I did with my own tough dog and have no idea where to start.

Let us cut years off your learning curve and just go straight to what works. We are here for you and are so excited to get started.

With empathy and gratitude,
