Foundations Training

Ideal for: Newly adopted dogs and puppies, dogs that have minor behavior problems such as pulling on walks, stealing unauthorized food/toys from counters, jumping, excessive barking and general lack of listening skills.

At Adventures of Finn Dog Training, we believe when we expect more of our dogs and become the leader they need, we can eliminate the most common behavior problems out there.  We use commands as a way to build your relationship with your dog and keep your dog in a calm, attentive state of mind.

What to expect with the Foundations Training Program:

First Session: Designed to set you and your dog up for success by teaching you the foundations of a happy walk.  We take all the guesswork out of what you need to do to successfully walk your dog. After a strong foundation is set, we'll apply what you learned and go for a structured walk together.

Second Session: Through the place command, we will teach your dog how to stay calm even in the loudest and liveliest of homes.  When you can trust your dog to listen, they can be part of the family more often instead of being banished to a bedroom or the backyard.

Third Session: Taking the place command one step further, your dog will learn to sit and lay down until they are released by you.  Through each command, we are getting to the root of your dog's behavior problems- not looking to their human for leadership and direction.

Fourth Session: We will work together to troubleshoot any problems that you encountered after three weeks of being your dog's leader, and practicing peace on the streets and in the home,

Behavior Modification Training

Ideal for: Dogs who are really struggling with separation anxiety, nervousness, aggression towards other dogs or humans on the leash, guarding toys/food by growling or biting at other dogs or humans,

Behavior Modification Training starts with the same foundational training for the first four weeks.  On the fifth lesson, tailored to your dog's specific issues. we dive in to specifically address any naughty behaviors your dog may be having with while also adding the benefits of low-level modern e-collar training.  This program will teach you everything you need to know to build a strong relationship and off-leash trust with your dog.

What to expect with the Behavior Modification Training Program:

First through Fourth sessions are the same as the Foundations Training Program (above)

Fifth Session: We will introduce the e-collar, teach you how to use it and teach your dog what it means.  After your dog understands what the e-collar is asking him, we will then layer the use of the e-collar with all the commands learned on the prong collar.

Sixth Session: We will specifically address any behavior problems that have not been solved by all that new structure and commands your dog now knows.  We will continue to work with the e-collar to make sure you are super comfortable using it correctly and introduce the "come" command.

Seventh Session: We will continue to address any trouble you've run into during the course of training.  If your dog needs more help in crowds, we will venture to a location with lots of people.  If your dogs gets weird around other dogs, we will go practice our walk near a dog park.  Each session is designed to set your dog up for success and specifically address the concerns you're having.

Eighth Session: We will work together to troubleshoot any problems that you encountered over the course of the last two months of being your dog's leader, and practicing peace on the streets and in the home.  If everything looks good, we will do something fun with your dog- go for a hike, agility work at an empty playground, etc.
